What People Say

Every year Rep. Dunn sends out thousands of surveys to his constituents about pending and current issues.  He reads each one and follows up with phone calls to those who have comments and concerns.

“When I think of courage and honesty, I think of Bill Dunn.”
–-Congressman Jimmy Duncan

“I love Bill Dunn’s idea for addressing concerns over the sunshine law. In case you missed it, the Knoxville Republican representative has suggested setting up Internet chat rooms where local public officials could discuss – and even deliberate – business outside of public meetings.
Citizens could follow the dialogue online.”
--Jack McElroy, editor of the Knoxville News Sentinel

“State Rep. Bill Dunn was conservative before it was cool… In these ethically challenged times it ought to be noted that lobbyists have never bought him a drink. No one in his extended family has gotten a state job or a state contract. He is the House Republican most on top of the state budget, and he asks the hard questions on the fiscal review committee. He is a straight-arrow without being sanctimonious.”
--Frank Cagle, Metro Pulse

“It’s hard not to like Bill Dunn… He is very down-to-earth, sharp, and interested in good policy… He is the only one I have heard in the legislature that is addressing the question of how education
can be improved systematically.”
--Dr. Martin D. Kennedy, Middle Tennessee State University, blogging about legislators

“We've been privileged to know Bill and Stacy even before he ran for his first term. As soon as we found out he was running for the 16th district, we jumped at the opportunity to work to help get him elected. Bill's outstanding character, commitment to integrity, exemplary life with his family, and willingness to work hard made us not just want to vote for him, but go door to door and wear those gorgeous orange shirts to get the word out. Elect Bill Dunn and you will sending a statesman to Nashville, not a politician. He understands his role to serve and represent the people of his district and he does it without compromising his values.”
--Mike and Linda Halley, Ball Camp Residents

“As an advocate for Long Term Care, I couldn’t have done any of the work I did without the help and guidance of Bill. I started by just writing him a simple letter of concern as a volunteer in the area and he took me through the whole process step-by-step and showed me how to make my concerns heard and acted upon in Nashville. He always did what he said he was going to do. I could not be happier with having Bill in Nashville. I had never been involved in politics before, but now I will do whatever
I can to keep Bill Dunn in office.”
--Pat Wininger, retired school teacher, advocate for assisted living, and Fountain City resident

“Many thanks to Bill for all of his hard work on behalf of Halls Memory Gardens. He worked diligently on our behalf with many visits and calls to other representatives regarding our situation, while always keeping us informed of the progress being made.I will be voting for Bill in the next election as will many others that know of his dedication to serving the community”
--Bobbie Woodall, Liaison to Halls Memory Gardens

“Bill has always been a conscientious representative for our community. He is always present for community events.”
--Mike Gordon, Pharmacist in Karns

“LEAF is honored to count Bill Dunn as our friend and supporter in our effort to stop mountain top removal coal mining. Stewardship of the earth as a faith issue is new for some, but he understood long before LEAF came along. In fact he was our only spontaneous co-sponsor. Bill Dunn is a wise and respected legislator who generously shares his expertise with us. Representative Dunn worked hard and effectively for our bill last session and we expect he will be key to passing the bill next session.
He's a man of conviction.”
--Dawn Coppock, Legislative Director, LEAF
